Le Crotte de Nez in a Coffee Shop [March 2023]

Last month I had the pleasure of meeting Chloe St-Jean-Richard, a circus artist, coach, and the life force behind one of my favorite performers, Le Crotte de Nez.

In a quiet cafe, I was able to meet Le Crotte de Nez face to face, and do some sketches while Chloé told me about the character’s early beginnings during the pandemic lockdown, the intricacies and evolution of the costume, and about their cat Pipi.

The wonderfully asymmetrical Le Crotte de Nez costume is hand-sewn from various pieces of clothing and includes gloves (worn on the feet) and a pair of comfortable sneakers (for the hands).

We were lucky enough to find a chair comfortable enough for Le Crotte de Nez to sit in, and they looked very pleased about it.

For more of their wonderful antics, hijinks, shenanigans, and feats of athletic skill, you can follow them on Instagram at le.crotte.de.nez.
